Glossary of conditions
Acne is a skin condition characterized by the appearance of inflammatory and non-inflammatory lesions and scars on the face and, in many cases, also on the upper trunk.
Acneic skin is characterized by secretion of more sebum than normal (seborrhea or sebaceous hypersecretion); by clogged follicles (follicular hyperkeratinization) due to sebum accumulation and abnormal growth of corneocytes; and by the proliferation of microorganisms such as Cutibacterium acnes.
Women, pregnant women and adolescents are the main ones affected by acne, as hormones play a crucial role in acne outbreaks.
The main lesions associated with acne are: closed comedones, open comedones, pustules, papules and scars.
Acne-prone skin should build a skincare routine where sebum-regulating, mattifying and purifying cosmetic products predominate. We recommend using our facial care pack Goodbye Pimples.
Alopecia is defined as abnormal hair loss, either localized or generalized.
The main cause of alopecia is genetics; however, it can also be conditioned by other factors such as hormonal levels, stress, certain diseases and a diet poor in nutrients.
If you are concerned about hair loss, we recommend that you combine in your hair care routine the anti-hair loss shampoo shampoo and hair strengthening serum.
Spider veins refer to the small red veins that appear on the skin forming a kind of spider web. They are caused by dilation of the superficial blood vessels and can be accompanied by swelling and pain.
Genetics, hormonal changes and sun exposure are the main causes of spider veins. To reduce spider veins we recommend you to lead a healthy lifestyle, practice sports and use cosmetic products that activate circulation.
We recommend you to apply our body oil with gentle upward massages to activate circulation and promote venous return.
Wrinkles are those lines or folds that appear mainly in the forehead area, eye contour (crow's feet) and lips (bar code). They can appear due to repeated muscle contraction, commonly called expression wrinkles, or due to aging.
To try to reduce wrinkles or expression lines, we recommend you to include the hyaluronic acid serum in your skincare routine, as well as retinol-like retinol-like serum.
Under-eye bags can appear due to fluid retention, fat accumulation in the lower eyelid or premature aging where the skin loses firmness and becomes more saggy.
Bags can appear in both men and women after the age of 40. To eliminate bags, we recommend our eye contour with caffeine to activate circulation and reduce eye bags.
We call dandruff the fine white flakes that appear on the scalp due to the accumulation of dead cells. It appears when the cell renewal process of the scalp slows down and therefore the dead cells are not eliminated naturally.
The main symptoms of dandruff are: flaking, itching, feeling of tightness, redness and dryness. To combat dandruff and all its symptoms, we recommend using the anti-dandruff shampoo.
Cellulite or orange peel skin refers to the dimples that appear in the area of the hips, thighs and buttocks. It occurs mainly for three reasons: fat accumulation, fluid retention and/or stiffness of fat cells.
Cellulite is a condition that mainly affects women because hormones play a key role. In addition, lifestyle and genetics are also factors that contribute to its appearance.
To reduce cellulite it is important to practice sports, eat a healthy diet and use cosmetic products with active ingredients that help reduce lipogenesis, stimulate lipolysis and activate microcirculation. We recommend using the anti-cellulite reducing gel twice a day to effectively reduce orange peel skin.
Couperose is a skin condition characterized by dilated blood vessels, causing the nose and cheeks to look irritated and reddened with spider veins or small red veins. In many cases, the skin may also be sensitive, dry and itchy.
There are several causes of couperose, e.g. genetics, temperature changes, solar radiation, stress and an unhealthy lifestyle.
In terms of skin care, it is advisable to use mild cosmetic products that do not irritate or alter the skin barrier. If you have couperose, we recommend using the Sensitive Skin Pack.
Atopic dermatitis or eczema is a chronic skin condition characterized by dryness, itching, erythema and desquamation, and is characterized by an altered skin barrier and hyperactivity of the immune system.
Dermatitis is conditioned by environmental factors such as temperature, chlorine from swimming pools or soaps, and by endogenous factors such as stress.
The main lesions of atopic dermatitis are eczema, lichenification and pruritus.
To alleviate the symptoms and improve the course of dermatitis or eczema, it is important to use cosmetics with soothing, repairing, emollient and moisturizing properties. In addition to using cleansers that respect the skin barrier. In these cases, regenerating and/or depigmenting cosmetics should be avoided.
We recommend the Sensitive Skin Pack for a complete skincare routine adapted to your skin type.
Seborrheic dermatitis is an inflammatory condition characterized by the formation of oily scales on the face and/or scalp. This type of dermatitis is often accompanied by itching, erythema, seborrhea, flaking and dandruff.
Seborrheic dermatitis can be caused by the overgrowth of the fungus Malassezia and is conditioned by genetics, hormones, stress and diet.
To treat seborrheic dermatitis on the scalp, we recommend you use the shampoo for oily hair formulated with Zinc PCA. Use it frequently to prevent fungal overgrowth.
Erythema is a skin condition that appears when there is an excess of blood flow due to vasodilation. This problem manifests with redness, itching and swelling of the skin.
If you have erythema, we advise you to see a specialist to recommend the appropriate treatment based on your diagnosis.
Stretch marks are those irregular red or white lines that appear when the skin is stretched excessively. They appear when there has been a drastic increase or reduction in body weight and the skin does not have enough flexibility or elasticity to support it.
At first, stretch marks are red due to the rupture of the blood capillaries, but with the passage of time they turn white due to the scarring process. They appear mainly in the area of the legs, thighs, buttocks, arms and chest.
To eliminate and/or prevent the appearance of stretch marks it is important to keep the skin hydrated. We recommend using our anti-stretch mark cream formulated with active ingredients that help reduce white and red stretch marks.
Flaccidity is understood as the loss of elasticity and firmness of the face, favoring facial sagging.
This flaccidity appears due to the decrease in the production of collagen and elastin as a result of age, although it can also be conditioned by other factors such as solar radiation, genetics, sudden changes in weight and early menopause.
To prevent sagging it is important to use the right cosmetic products. We recommend using our Anti-Aging Routine composed of antioxidants, cellular renewers, hyaluronic acid and retinol-like.
Hyperpigmentation is a type of skin blemish caused by the overproduction of melanin. As a consequence, the skin presents brown spots on the face and/or body.
Hyperpigmentation spots can be caused by different factors: genetics (freckles and moles), sun exposure (sun spots) and hormonal changes (melasma).
To prevent and/or eliminate brown spots on the skin, we recommend the use of the anti-brown spots serum Porcelain. It is also important to use sunscreen to prevent photoaging and to use the vitamin c serum serum to neutralize free radicals.
Post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation, known as HPI, is the type of hyperpigmentation or dark spot that appears on the skin after an inflammatory process. This occurs because as the skin regenerates after the injury, an excess of melanin is produced.
Post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation can appear as a result of acne, wounds, burns or dermatitis, and can take from weeks to months to disappear.
To prevent this type of hyperpigmentation, it is important not to touch the scar or wound, to use sunscreen and avoid prolonged sun exposure. In case you already have HPI, we recommend you to use our depigmenting serum Porcelain and the AHA PEEL.
Hyperkeratosis refers to the thickening of the stratum corneum (outermost layer of the skin) due to an abnormal excess of keratin. As a consequence, the skin becomes stiffer and small dry, rough patches appear.
Hyperkeratosis usually appears on the soles of the feet, heels, elbows and knees as these are the areas of the body that suffer the most friction and pressure. To improve the area, it is important to maintain good hydration, we recommend the use of shea butter.
Hypopigmentation is a skin condition caused by a deficient production of melanin due to the loss of melanocytes. As a consequence, white spots appear on the skin.
Hypopigmentation is always referred to as vitiligo; however, there are also other types of hypopigmentation such as pityriasis alba and hypomelanosis.
To treat white spots on the skin, we recommend using our Porcelaindepigmenting serum, which is formulated with an active ingredient designed for this purpose.
Solar lentigines are dark, uniform spots that appear due to prolonged exposure to the sun. Ultraviolet radiation stimulates the overproduction of melanin by melanocytes.
These sunspots usually appear on very exposed areas of the body such as the shoulders, décolleté or face. To prevent the appearance of sun spots it is important to use sunscreen daily and avoid the most intense hours of sunlight.
If you already have sunspots and want to correct them, we recommend using the anti-spot serum and the AHA facial peel peel in your skincare routine.
Melasma is a type of hyperpigmentation or brown spot that appears due to hormonal changes (pregnancy, menopause and medication). It tends to occur mainly in women and pregnant women.
Melasma can be treated by using sunscreen daily, a facial depigmenter such as Porcelain and a chemical peel such as an enzymatic peel. enzymatic peel o AHA.
Melasma can be worsened by prolonged sun exposure, so it is important to avoid exposure to ultraviolet rays.
Milium cysts are those small, white, ball-shaped bumps that appear on the face. Milium arises for two reasons: the keratin has not been able to get out into the top layer of the skin and becomes "trapped", or the keratin ducts are blocked.
If you have milia cysts, do not try to burst them as they are not pimples so no matter how hard you squeeze them you will not get anything, only inflame the area. Instead, we recommend that you apply a small amount of salicylic acid on it.
Dark circles under the eyes are those dark spots that appear under the eyes due to the accumulation of fat, toxins and water. The main cause of dark circles under the eyes is fatigue, although they can also appear due to poor diet or genetics.
Dark circles under the eyes are characterized by a blue, violet or brown color and can appear in both men and women. To prevent and/or attenuate dark circles under the eyes it is important to sleep at least 8 hours a day and moisturize the area with an eye contour cream.
Crow's feet are those expression lines that appear in the eye contour due to the continuous contraction of the muscles. At first they are considered dynamic wrinkles, but over the years they become static wrinkles.
Crow's feet are one of the first signs of aging and to treat them it is important to use antioxidants and cosmetic products with hyaluronic acid. We recommend using the eye contour with immediate lifting effect, the serum with hyaluronic acid to fill wrinkles and the serum with vitamin C to neutralize free radicals.
Xerosis or dry skin is a skin condition caused by a lack of hydration due to certain diseases or aging. This occurs because of a deficiency in skin barrier lipids or a deficiency in natural moisturizing factors (NMF).
This dehydration makes the skin look dry, tight, red, rough and rough. It can even become itchy. If you suffer from xerosis, we recommend that you moisturize your skin deeply with products rich in fatty acids such as body oil.
Psoriasis is a chronic inflammatory condition that manifests itself through outbreaks with red, white patches and intense itching. It usually affects different areas of the body such as the scalp, elbows, genitals, knees and legs.
The main causes of psoriasis are genetics and stress. To alleviate the symptoms we recommend applying aloe vera gel on the affected area, even so, it is necessary to see a specialist to provide the appropriate treatment.
Blackheads are the well-known open comedones that appear when hair follicles become clogged by the accumulation of sebum and dead cells. They turn black because of the oxidation they undergo when they come into contact with air.
Blackheads appear mainly on the nose, chin and back, and although they do not hurt or pose a health risk, they can affect self-esteem.
To remove blackheads we recommend using natural salicylic acid as it purifies and unclogs pores. You can also use the pore minimizing serum Velvet and perform the double facial cleansing to have a perfectly clean face.
Actinic keratoses, also known as solar keratoses, are lesions that appear as dry, rough patches or bumps due to prolonged exposure to the sun. They appear especially on the face and décolleté.
Solar keratoses mainly affect fair-skinned people and those who expose themselves to the sun without protection. These lesions may disappear or persist over time and may even worsen.
To treat this type of skin condition, it is essential to see a specialist and, to prevent it, it is important to apply sunscreen sunscreen on a daily basis.
Keratosis pilaris is a skin condition characterized by thickening of the skin and the appearance of small bumps due to obstruction of the hair follicles by excess melanin.
Keratosis pilaris is commonly known as goose bumps because it has pimples and a rough texture. The main cause of this skin disorder is genetic predisposition.
Rosacea is a chronic skin disease characterized by the appearance of redness and possible inflammatory lesions such as pustules or papules in the central part of the face.
Although its origin is unknown, there are predisposing factors and others that trigger its appearance. Predisposing agents include genetics, proliferation of microorganisms and alteration of the hydrolipidic barrier. Triggering factors include temperature, sun exposure, wind, stress and smoking.
The main symptoms of rosacea include redness, burning sensation and skin sensitivity.
Although it is a condition that cannot be cured, its symptoms can be alleviated by using the right products. We recommend using emollients such as the ceramides found in our facial day creammoisturizers such as the hyaluronic acid serum, y sunscreen.
Urticaria is a skin reaction manifested by hives, itching, swelling and redness. It can be caused by food, medication or insect bites.
If you have urticaria quite frequently, it is ideal that you go to a specialist so that he/she can recommend you the appropriate treatment.
